A "soil absorption coefficient" study is to predict the mobility of a
pesticide in the environment. If carried out over a range of pesticide
concentrations the result can be fitted to an equation called the
"Freundlich isotherm" that is used to describing adsorption. This
equation is Q=k C 1/n,
where Q is the amount of the sorbed pesticide in
equilibrium, C is the concentration of the pesticide in solution, K and
n are empirical constants, Kf is called the sorption coefficient. An n
value of 1 denotes a linear sorption process.
